Lest We Forget: Courage Wears Many Forms
This morning, like so many others across the country, we stood in silence at the Dawn Service.
We paused to honour the incredible men and women — past and present — who’ve given their lives, their health, and their peace for the safety and freedom of others.
We listened. Reflected. And we remembered.
But for our family, and for many others raising a child with Type 1 Diabetes, this day carries a deeper meaning.
Because while our children don’t wear a uniform…
They too wake up each day and step into a battle that most people never see.
Every insulin dose is a calculated risk.
Every low blood sugar is a moment of fear.
Every night alarm is a choice between sleep and survival.
And yet — they get up.
They fight.
They keep going.
Today, as we pay tribute to the incredible bravery of our veterans, we also see that same quiet resilience in our children. In the parents who sit beside hospital beds. In the families who never fully rest.
It’s a different battlefield — but it’s a battle nonetheless.
So to those who served — we honour you.
To those still serving — we see you.
And to our kids, who fight silently each day with courage and strength far beyond their years — we salute you, too.
