Welcome to My Journey: Raising Awareness for Type 1 Diabetes & Mental Health
Hi everyone,
I’m here to share a part of my life that’s deeply personal but incredibly important.
As a mum of a child with Type 1 diabetes, I’ve experienced first hand the mental and emotional toll this disease takes—not just on my child but on our entire family.
When my son was diagnosed at just 3 years old, our world was turned upside down.
The constant blood sugar checks.
The finger pricks and injections.
The sleepless nights.
The 24/7 worry.
That became our new normal.
But what many don’t see — and what isn’t spoken about enough — is that Type 1 diabetes is more than a physical condition.
It’s an emotional battle.
A mental load that never switches off.
The lack of awareness surrounding how serious T1D truly is continues to be one of our biggest challenges.
This is not “just diabetes.”
It’s not cured by diet.
It’s not something they “grow out of.”
It’s a life-threatening, lifelong condition.
And while we work hard to manage the numbers and the treatment — we’re also quietly managing the emotional strain that comes with it all.
That’s why I started this space.
To educate.
To advocate.
To support.
Not just for those with Type 1 diabetes — but for the families, friends, teachers, and communities that surround them.
Because T1D doesn’t just affect one person. It affects everyone who loves them.
So to every parent out there walking the same path…
You are not alone. 💙
Let’s lift each other up.
Let’s speak the truth.
Let’s remind the world:
Mental health and diabetes go hand in hand.
