He Is Not a Burden. But Type 1 Diabetes Is.
THANK YOU.
For every message, every like, every share — the support has been overwhelming in the best way.
You’ve helped me feel seen. And now I’m more driven than ever to keep sharing, louder and stronger.
This space was never meant to divide.
I didn’t create this to debate A1c numbers or push a “right” way to manage diabetes.
I created this to:
Educate.
Advocate.
And speak the raw truth of what it’s really like to parent a child living with Type 1 Diabetes.
But recently, that truth was attacked.
Low-carb extremists twisted my words and accused me of calling my son a burden.
Let’s set the record straight:
My son is NOT a burden. He is my reason. My strength. My purpose.
But Type 1 Diabetes IS a burden — and that needs to be okay to say out loud.
It’s the:
Mental exhaustion.
Emotional toll.
Constant calculations.
Sleepless nights.
Unrelenting fear.
That’s what I talk about.
This space is not about demonizing carbs or defending dietary camps.
It’s about survival.
The idea that diabetes gets “easy” with the “right” food?
It’s not just untrue — it’s harmful.
Because no matter how you manage it — low carb, high carb, hybrid —
T1D is hard. Period.
Let’s stop judging how people manage the unmanageable.
Let’s stop assuming there’s one path to peace.
There isn’t.
There’s just:
Parents doing their best with what they have.
Kids trying to live full lives while tracking every bite.
Families riding a rollercoaster they never chose.
So here’s what this space will continue to be:
✔️ Honest
✔️ Supportive
✔️ Shame-free
✔️ Real
Thank you for choosing connection over criticism.
Let’s keep building a space where truth has a voice.
